Zakariyya Psoriasis Recovery Testimony

Before

After

In April 2022, at 31, I was diagnosed with psoriasis, an autoimmune disease. I discovered a plethora of contributing factors, but stress and emotional strain, I believe, also played a role. It started with small patches; doctors prescribed strong steroid creams and UV therapy. My skin improved briefly, but the psoriasis never truly left. The recommendation and thought of methotrexate at such a young age worried me deeply.

For nearly two years, expensive steroid creams became my routine, at times applying it two times daily. Severe side effects included thinning and damaging my skin. In February 2023, I broke my upper arm in three places during an obstacle course, likely due to long-term steroid use. After the cast came off, psoriasis spread thickly.

By early 2024, it had worsened. A friend suggested cutting milk, and during Ramadan fasting, I found slight relief, more discipline, and some weight loss. At 1.63 m and 79 kg, I felt tired and unhealthy, but my faith kept my hope alive.

Discovering Gut Health & Diet

By mid-2024, I learned about leaky gut and the correlation of one’s diet to autoimmune disease. I stopped the steroid creams completely; psoriasis flared severely, spreading to my face and scalp. I tried plant-based, keto, and carnivore diets, losing 20 kg, but the disease persisted—partly masked by a hidden steroid cream someone gave me.

I would include the wisdom in Tibb Nabawi that says:
“The gut is the house of sickness and diet is the head of cure.”

Chinese Medicine & Whole Foods

In October 2024, I turned to traditional Chinese medicine and started natural herbal tablets, while focusing on truly whole foods: grass-fed halal meat, raw milk, organic vegetables, sourdough bread from freshly milled whole wheat (from Go Natural), plus avoiding seed oils.

Processed and refined foods clearly made things worse; fresh, whole foods calmed my skin.

By January–March 2025, my skin, once almost fully covered, was nearly clear. Travelling abroad, I stuck to fresh, Mediterranean-style foods and herbal tablets, and my skin stayed calm. Back home, eating fresh, wholegrain-related staple foods milled with my own home stone mill kept me healthy.

Not Exclusion, But Balance

I never believed in excluding entire food groups forever. Keto and carnivore helped as temporary resets, but wholesome foods created by God—grains, milk, meat, and plants—are blessings.

The real issues are:
• modern processing
• old, inflammatory, nutrient-sterile and rancid flour products
• chemical preservatives and taste enhancers
• and the modern trend of overconsumption of sugar.

By January 2025, I stopped all creams, pills, and even vitamin supplements. Now, I don’t do calorie count or experience any obsessiveness. I fast occasionally, and enjoy home-baked, freshly milled roti and pizza made from Go Natural’s freshly milled clean grains.

Finally Free

Finally, I live normally—free from the pain and discomfort of psoriasis and the shackles and side effects of the harmful medicine that never removes the root cause that sparked the “dis-ease”.

Processed food is no longer the norm, so it no longer controls my health.

Living Naturally & Lightly

Today, I feel stronger, with normal skin colour, more energy, and real freedom. Eating whole foods and trusting God’s creation brought healing, physically and spiritually.

In a world of quick fixes, returning to what God has already provided led me to true health.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it all starts by trusting what was always there in nature.
