Cindy’s Recovery Journey from MS to Hope and Healing

June 22, 2026 | by Johan Jacobs

My name is Cindy, and I would like to share a story of pain, discovery, faith, and hope.

As a child, I was frequently ill. Severe vomiting, repeated hospital visits, and numerous courses of antibiotics left me with extensive dental problems. By the age of ten, I had already received eleven mercury amalgam fillings. At that young, innocent age, I trusted doctors, and I never questioned whether they could affect my health.

Looking back, many symptoms that I thought were normal were anything but normal. Brain fog, depression, headaches, poor concentration, fatigue, muscle spasms, and difficulty exercising were part of everyday life. Because I had lived with them for so long, I simply accepted them.

During my pregnancies, my health challenges continued. I suffered severe morning sickness, experienced a miscarriage, and became increasingly interested in understanding health and nutrition. I began reading extensively, eating cleaner foods, and taking my health more seriously.

During my research, I came across information suggesting that mercury amalgam fillings could be harmful. Initially, I dismissed the idea. After all, I had eleven fillings and seemed to be functioning reasonably well. Yet one question kept bothering me: if mercury is known to be poisonous, why is it considered safe inside our mouths by our medical system?

One day, I visited Go Natural and met Johan Jacobs, another MS survivor. He spoke passionately about the importance of whole foods and, as a staple, nutrient-rich grains. While I found his nutritional insights fascinating, I was far less convinced by his views on mercury fillings.

Little did I know that this conversation would later change and save my life.

The Diagnosis

Towards the end of 2018, I began experiencing strange symptoms. My feet started tingling and going numb. I noticed weakness in my left arm and leg, increasing muscle spasms, extreme fatigue, headaches, and brain fog.

The symptoms gradually worsened until one day, while driving, I suddenly lost strength and control on the left side of my body, which forced me to stop driving.

After extensive testing, MRI scans, blood work, and a lumbar puncture, doctors found lesions (white spots) on my brain and diagnosed me with early onset of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

I was devastated.

All I could think about was my children and what the future might hold. Lying in my hospital bed, I cried out to God for help. Opening my Bible, my eyes fell on 2 Kings 20:5:

“I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you.”

At that moment, an overwhelming peace came over me.

Looking for Answers

After leaving the hospital, I had to visit Johan again, I remembered his words, “I did not get sick, but I was made sick”. He looked in my mouth and saw too much mercury. Johan strongly encouraged me to remove those obvious root causes and referred me to biological dentists Dr Maria and Dr Brogneri at Camps Bay Dental Studio. If those mercury fillings are not removed by a qualified biological dentist, they will poison you more quickly, and your symptoms will exacerbate with devastating results.

A 3D panorama scan was done, which also revealed hidden jawbone cavitations and chronic infections, along with my eleven mercury fillings.

For the first time, I was presented with an explanation that connected many of the symptoms I had experienced throughout my life. I decided to proceed with a complete biological dental revision protocol.

The Hardest Year – The process was not easy.

My mercury levels were extremely high, and the detoxification process was intense. Over the next year, I underwent several procedures to safely remove the mercury fillings and clean out the jawbone infections.

Much of that year was spent in bed.

There were days when I struggled to walk, days when I collapsed because I could not feel my legs properly, and days when I was semi-paralyzed and could not get out of bed, wondering whether I would ever be normal again and play soccer or cricket with my children again.

Yet it was during this difficult season that God did some of His deepest work in my life.

I began to realize that healing involved far more than physical health. I needed healing from grief, trauma, disappointment, fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, and emotional pain that I had carried for years.

My recovery became not only a physical detoxification but also a spiritual and emotional one.

A New Perspective

As I followed Johan’s health and detox protocol, improved my nutrition, used quality supplementation, and worked through issues of forgiveness and repentance, I gradually became stronger.

The journey taught me that health is influenced by many factors. Toxic exposures, poor nutrition, emotional wounds, stress, fear, and unresolved trauma can all affect the body’s ability to function optimally.

Today, I am far stronger than when I received my diagnosis.

While I still have healing to complete and occasionally experience challenges, I have hope, purpose, and a far better quality of life than I was told was possible.

Most importantly, my relationship with God has deepened tremendously.

What I Learned

If there is one lesson I have learned, it is this:

True healing only begins when we start addressing the root causes instead of simply managing symptoms with allopathic medicine. The body is so willing to heal; we need to create a clean and nutrient-rich environment, setting the stage for healing.

My journey taught me the importance of:

  • Whole, nutrient-dense foods
  • Removing and reducing toxic exposures
  • Addressing hidden infections
  • Forgiveness and repentance
  • Managing stress and fear
  • Trusting God through every season
  • Today I choose gratitude.
  • I choose faith over fear.
  • I choose to celebrate every victory, no matter how small.

Most of all, I give all glory to God for carrying me through one of the most difficult seasons of my life and for placing people like Johan Jacobs in my path to help guide my recovery journey.

To God be all the glory.

Much love – Cindy
